Faith's Law Guide
Statement of Intent
At Oswego CUSD 308, we are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community. With a firm dedication to upholding Faith's Law, we aim to create a secure and nurturing environment for all individuals within our educational community. Through rigorous screening processes, we strive to safeguard the dignity, trust, and rights of everyone involved in our district.
What is Faith's Law and what is changing because of it?
The applicant must swear or affirm that they are not disqualified from employment and complete a form that includes contact information for current or former employers where the applicant had direct contact with children.
The district in receipt of the application shall initiate a review of the employment history by contacting the employer(s) listed and request pertinent information from the current/former employer as required by the statute.
Required Process
REQUIRED BEGINNING JULY 1, 2023: Applicants must complete an employment history review prior to working.

Applicant is emailed two forms -- Illinois State Board of Education Sexual Misconduct Disclosure Form & Authorization for Release of Sexual Misconduct-Related Information Form -- once we have received the candidaterecommendation.

Both forms must be returned to EHR@sd308.org within three days of receipt.

Human Resources will initate contact with the applicant's previous employer(s). They will be sent the second form for authorization of release of information.

We cannot move forward in the process if we do not receive the forms back from the applicant. If we receive all items back, this completes this step of potential onboarding.

Title II Grants
Teacher and Principal Training and Recruiting Fund (Teacher Quality)
To provide funds to increase student academic achievement by elevating teacher and principal quality through recruitment, hiring, and retention strategies and to hold local educational agencies and schools accountable for improvements in student academic achievement.
The projected allocation includes the LEA's hold harmless (the sum of the FY02 allocation for the IASA Title II, Dwight D. Eisenhower Professional Development Program and the FY02 allocation for the IASA Class-Size Reduction Program). Funds above the hold harmless level are calculated based on the low-income census count (80%) and on public and private, nonprofit K-12 enrollment (20%) using numbers provided by the U.S. Department of Education.

The Faith’s Law Resource Guide was developed in Spring 2023 in consultation with relevant stakeholders.
It provides guidance for pupils, parents or guardians, and teachers about sexual abuse response and prevention resources available in their community. It is linked on ISBE’s Student Care webpage.
