Curriculum Audit
A curriculum audit is a system-wide look into many areas of our organization. It includes several areas for examination, including:
- The district’s ability to set strategic direction and follow it
- Evaluation of how well the district uses its resources
- Measure of equity of opportunity for all students and all programs
- The use of data, how it is used to improve
- Effectiveness of processes and programs at an organizational level
An outside independent organization, Curriculum Management Solutions Inc. (CMSI), conducted the audit in early 2024. They conducted focus groups, surveys, and classroom observations and collected schoolwork from all classrooms across all schools in the district. The executive summary of findings can be found here.
Many of the audit's findings illuminate areas included in the priorities of the first phase of the strategic roadmap --when a need for a shared vision and alignment was identified as an essential goal.
Master Facilities Plan
A Master Facilities Plan assesses the current and future needs of the district’s educational facilities and ensures they align with the district's academic and programmatic goals. The plan includes three key areas.
The Master Facilities Plan will include:
- Conditions of Existing Buildings: Assess the state of current structures to identify areas needing renovation or expansion and evaluate operational systems supporting each building’s function. This portion began on Nov. 4, 2024.
- Current and Future Facility Use and Needs: Evaluating existing education spaces, how they are used, and whether they are meeting student needs.
- Renovation and Expansion Requirements: Outlining necessary improvements for facility operations to support evolving educational programs and plan future aspirations.Student Assignment Plan
The school district provides a variety of specialized programs designed to meet the unique needs of our students. Some of these programs are located in specific school buildings, making it essential to evaluate factors such as space utilization, travel logistics, staffing, and student requirements to ensure each program’s location remains suitable. As demographics and programmatic demands evolve over time, ongoing assessments are critical to adapting and optimizing our services. In 2024 the Special Education and Multi-lingual Learners programs are being reviewed.
Hazardous Travel Study
The safety of our students is always our highest priority. Therefore, we will conduct a hazardous route study to ensure our students can safely access each of our school buildings.
The last study of travel to and from our schools was conducted in 2015. Because new and completed construction has occurred since then, it is important to reevaluate the routes in our district. This study will identify hazardous walking areas, assess risk levels (such as high traffic volume or lack of sidewalks), provide recommendations for improvement, and ensure the recommendations made align with the Illinois guidelines.
Thank you for supporting us as we strive to maintain safety in and around our schools!
Bus Routing Software
Updates to the routing software is necessary in order to realize efficiencies and acccuratly reflect the changing area. The antiquated software is no longer supported and cannot be updated.
Demography Report
Demography Reports for school districts provide information regarding student population, which is needed and helpful in making informed decisions regarding curriculum development, resource allocation, staffing needs, and school building planning needs. It is a powerful tool for school districts in tracking change over time. Oswego Community Unit School Ditrict 308’s most recent demographic study was completed in March 2024.
