SOPPA Information
Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA)
LearnPlatform Status - SOPPA (105 ILCS 85)
The Department Chair, Director, or Curriculum Leader determines if applications, websites, or extensions should be used as resources in their department. The application status in LearnPlatform pertains to SOPPA, which indicates whether an application/website can be legally used by students in the school district.Teacher and staff approval for use of applications, websites, or extensions, regardless of the application status, is not reflected in LearnPlatform.
If the application status is SOPPA Compliant, it can legally be used by students in the school district. The Department Chair, Director, or Curriculum Leader can now determine if using the application, website, or extension as a resource for their department is acceptable. If the application status is Reviewed & Denied, it can not be used by students in the district.
