Your not the only one. There may be a couple of reasons for that.
One might be if your shelf still looks like this... or at least you still use the Google Docs App.
If you create new Documents using the Google Docs App:
1. The new document is automatically name "Untitled Document"
2. There is no way to organize the documents that you create in the Documents App
You can sort them by Name (Alphabetically)
You can change if you see them as a list or as a preview
But you cannot organize them into Folders.
