Guiding the Decision to Safely Resume In Person Learning

Movement between phases is informed by several areas: Area Health Metrics, PPE Availability, Staffing Availability, and Revised Guidance from Health Authorities. When the district is required to move to an alternative phase it will remain in that phase until the metrics permit movement, but no less than 14 calendar days.

2022 - 2023 Safety Plan

The primary goal of this plan is to retain in-person learning for all students. Using the strategies and procedures in this plan, the district aims to retain a safe and healthy setting for all students and staff.

SD 308 has developed this comprehensive Safety Plan to address the operation of schools for the 2022-23 school year, based upon the guidance issued by The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), endorsed by Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), and the local considerations and feasibility of measures within our district. The mitigation measures employed may be added or subtracted in response to the prevalence of COVID-19 in the school and/or community setting as addressed in detail in the plan.

The components of this plan are subject to change based upon new or changing guidance from local, state, or federal health authorities, or as needed in response to COVID-19 cases within the schools and/or community.

2021 - 2022 Safety Plan

The CDC guidance as adopted by the Illinois Department of Public Health, and promoted by the Illinois State Board of Education emphasizes implementing layered prevention strategies (e.g., using multiple prevention strategies together) to protect people who are not fully vaccinated, including students, teachers, staff, and other members of their households. The guidance is intended to help administrators and local health officials select appropriate, layered prevention strategies and understand how to safely transition learning environments out of COVID-19 pandemic precautions as community transmission of COVID-19 reaches low levels or stops. This guidance is based on current scientific evidence and lessons learned from schools implementing COVID-19 prevention strategies.
