Plank Student Competes At the World Robotic Olympiad
Oswego, Ill. (Dec. 8, 2016) - Kyran Siddiqui, 6th grader at Plank Junior High, just returned from competing in an international STEM event held in New Delhi, India. This event was the World Robotics Olympiad. Kyran was a member of the U.S. team! The team made it to quarter finals on the second day of the competition. Competition was tough, however, due to amazing teams from Russia, China, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, Taiwan and Malaysia.
The theme for this year's competition was "Trash and Reducing". The goal for competitors was to create a robot that picked up a certain number of varied colored blocks. The challenge for the competition was to create a robot to gather the blocks.
This was Kyran's first time at the World Robotics Olympiad. He hopes to return next year where the competition is being held in Costa Rica. Recently, Kyran and his friend teamed up to compete at a local competition called RoboFest. Congratulations Kyran!
